So
every week we have a devotional on Tuesday and on Sunday. And last
Tuesday we were ablet o sing Called to Serve with everyone in the MTC
and it was seriously so powerful. I love the feeling that I get as I
know that we are all here for one cause and one purpose and we are
continuely progrossing towards the same goal!
I was able to recieve my travel plans a couple fo days ago so that was pretty exciting! I will be flying out on Wednesday July 6th so make sure that you are near a phone to be able to talk to me between 9 am and 12 pm!
Jen- I asked Dad if maybe you guys could be together so then it would
make that a bit easier, but if you can't that is okay too!
This
week was pretty cool because on Wednesday we got 700 new missionaries
along with 171 new mission presidents who have been called. And I was
actually able to be taught by President and Sister Odume from Nigeria
who have been called to Nigeria for their mission. They have been
working as Temple Presidents and so that was really cool to here about
their experiences. They were also able to tell us their testimonies in
they native language which was my favorite thing. The spirit still was
able to testify to me of the things that they were teaching me even
though They weren't speaking my language and I loved it! They are going
to do awesome in their own area and it made me even more excited to be
able to meet my mission president.
As for my
MTC teachers, things are getting a lot better with Brother G. I
am able to learn a lot from him even if he does teach in a different
way. And I know that my Heavenly FAther sent him to me for a reason and I
know that it will all work out.
Along
with the new mission presidents that were here this last week. We also
had all of the 12 apostles here at one point this week and the first
presidency except President Monson. We weren't allowed to go into the
main building, it literally had so much security around it, but you
could feel the power in this building literally radiating it felt like.
But it was cool to know they were so close, yet so far away. Kinda
werid, kinda cool.
But because we weren't
allowed to go into the main building all week they moved our cafeteria
to the gym and we had to work out at the feild. Which was HOT. And that
meant that a lot of our food was fast food this last week. But on Sunday
we were able to walk to BYU to eat STEAK. I was so freakin excited. So
yummy.
This week on Sunday during the devotinal
we had Elder Allen, who is the Missionary Department Manager come and
speak to us. And I loved one of the quotes from that. Dad always used to
say Remember who you are and what I stand for. Then it turned to Remember who you are and what God expects you to become. And this is what
they said on Sunday "Remember who you are and preach his gospel". And I
love this quote. This is my purpose as a missionary and I am so exited
that I get to fulfill that purpose!!
On Sunday
I was able to teach about the Atonement with Sister Sorensen in our
Weekly District Meeting. I was so nervous. It was like okay, I am fine
with teaching investigators because they know nothing about the gospel.
But teaching a bunch of missionaries? No thanks. But I am so glad that I
was able too, because I learned so much in that short experience. And I
can't take any credit for that lesson because I know that it was the
spirit teaching it. Not me. The Branch Presidents wife came up to us
after the lesson and told us that it was one of the best District
meetings she has ever been to. It was very kind of her to say, but
honestly it was the spirit.
I am so grateful to
have Sister Sorensen by my side. Last night I was having a really rough
night. A lot of what we do in the MTC is Role Playing. And I am really
bad at it. Honestly. And I have been praying to figure out what I need
to do in order to gain more from my Role Plays. And after a really bad
night in class I got back from my shower and found a note from Sister
Sorensen. I am so glad that I have her sweet spirit and I am so lucky to
be able to learn from her every single day that I am here in the MTC. I
am honestly so sad to leave. I don't know that I am going to do without
her!
I am alive! I am so excited to be here in
the MTC. I love you so much and I miss you! I am working hard and
trying to keep focused on my purpose!! Pray for me!! I love you!-
Sister Harrison
