Hey Fan Club! Man, this week was such a fantastic week. Really
it went by so fast that I am having a hard time trying to remember all
that happened! We saw many miracles and we were able to work with a
bunch of great people, and I got to go back and see one of my old areas,
 ROSEBURG!
Okay, last Sunday the Elders came to correlation and they were like
“Sisters, we had the most amazing miracle happen today!” They tell us
that last week they were sitting in the foyer at church and that a
member of the bishopric came out, handed them a piece of paper and said,
“this lady just called and she asked for a blessing.” So the elders got
up and went right away to give this lady a blessing, ended up teaching
her the Restoration and left her a Book of Mormon to read. That night
she called and said she had read 4 chapters of the Book of Mormon and
scheduled a time for them to come back! Well, the next night Sister Orr
and I went by to see our investigator Candy, and Candy starts telling us
about her neighbor who wasn’t feeling well the day before when she
stopped by to visit and Candy said that she should call “the Mormons” to
give her a blessing of healing. Candy is the one that told that lady to
call the church, wow, inspiration from heaven! Well then on Wednesday
we were driving home from service and we got a call from the Elders,
“Sisters, we are supposed to teach that lady in 20 minutes
but we cant find a member to come with us, will you go?” UH YEAH. So we
went and we met this amazing woman, Joyce! Right now she is going
through a hard time in her life where she is trying to find out what God
wants her to do. We ended up reading all of the chapters that she read
with her and answering questions while we went and then the Elders had
also left her an Articles of Faith card. So we went through those too!
Suddenly we got to Article of Faith #4 “We believe the first principles
and ordinances of the gospel are first faith in the Lord Jesus Christ,
second repentance, third baptism by immersion for the remission of sins
and forth laying on of hand for the gift of the Holy Ghost.” After she
read that article of faith she paused, and she started asking about the
Holy Ghost and how he can receive the Holy Ghost. The spirit was SO
strong and it clicked in her mind that she didn’t have the spirit with
her right now and that was why she was having a hard time receiving
answers. We told her what she would need to do to receive the spirit and
now we are going to meet with her again tonight! WOW! Pray for JOYCE!!
The other night Sister Orr and I ran to the church to do something
on our ipad only planning on being there for all of 10 minutes at most
and ended up being there for 45! Well while we were there a member
walked past and walked out of the doors, but then felt prompted to come
back inside and asked us if we had a copy of the Book of Mormon, and of
course we did! He then started to tell us that he was working part time
here in Oregon and part time in Idaho and here in the area he had a
roommate that he felt really needed to hear the gospel. It was so cool
because Heavenly Father put us in the right place at the right time.
Because we were there we were able to give him a Book of Mormon and
practice with him a couple of times saying what he could say to his
friend. It was amazing to know that Sister Orr and I were following the
prompting to come to the church for just a minute and it turned into
something GREAT!
The other night Sister Orr and I finished our dinner super fast and
earlier that day someone we tracted into had told us that Payless was
having a sale (because it is Oregon Winter and they noticed that Sister
Orr had no rain boots on- haha). So we decided to take the rest of our
dinner hour to go over there and sure enough Sister Orrs prayers were
answered and she got her boots, but while she was looking for them I
felt like I should try to talk to the worker there, so I did. She is a
young adult girl who just got out of High School and so we started
talking about the basic stuff and then suddenly we were talking about
church. Sister Orr wasn’t even paying attention and came into the
conversation right as I was like, “So do you go to a church around
here?” Sure enough after about 5 minutes of talking I got her Facebook
information and now we have been messaging about the church and we are
going to try to meet up with her this week! The spirit is so cool!
There is this member in our ward here who literally cornered us
last week telling us that he had an assignment for us to do. We figured
it was about missionary work and we started to get super excited and
then he was like “We are now assigning the Missionaries to attend ward
choir, please be there promptly at 8:15
next week” and he is such a happy dude that we don’t know what he would
be like mad, so we followed his instruction haha! And it was great, I
love the spirit that can be felt by just signing a simple hymn, simple
yet powerful!
We had the Trunk or Treat for our ward this week, I love being able
to go and see all the little kids dressed up. As we were walking around
trying to find the member who was feeding us that night, we saw our
investigator! We never heard back from her if she was going to come so
we were pretty shocked, but super happy to see her. AND she brought a
friend. We started talking to her friend and our investigator had been
talking to her about how much the church has blessed her life so far and
told her that she should meet with us! So we started introducing her to
the Book of Mormon and got her information and we have a lesson with
her this week! Trunk or Treat miracle!!!
On Saturday
Sister Orr had the opportunity to go to the Medford Temple with her
recent converts who were going to go do Baptisms for the first time. So
we drove to Roseburg and another Sister went down with Sister Orr and I
got to stay in Roseburg for the day with a sister named Sister Hawkins!
She has only been out for 2 months and she is super amazing. It is funny
because I left Roseburg almost exactly a year ago this week and so I
was having total flash backs to the beginning of my mission the entire
time I was there. It was a lot of fun. We got to go and work with some
of their investigators and we go to have the experience of receiving a
tour of a local Methodist church over there. One of their investigators
is a strong member of that church and so we went through and it was
beautiful. She showed us everything and then we invited her to receive a
tour of our church and she agreed! We were excited about that! It was
really cool to be in another place of worship, they are wonderful
followers of Christ! We even got to talk to the Pastor, she was SO
surprised to see female missionaries! It was such an amazing experience.
 I LOVE ROSEBURG.
This last week during interviews our Mission Presidents wife,
Sister Orton, invited all of us missionaries to start our gratitude
journals, I LOVE GRATITUDE JOURNALS. Seriously it has been an amazing
tool that I have been able to use this last week to remember all of the
great blessings that I should be grateful for, and this week during a
companionship study we sang Count Your Many Blessings, the final verse
goes as follows:
So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your blessings;
See what God hath done.
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings;
See what God hath done.
I have been so grateful for the many blessings that my Heavenly
Father has given me, and something along with writing down things in my
gratitude journal is every night I pray and thank Heavenly Father for
the things I wrote down and even more things that I think of. I am so
grateful that God is truly over all and that he is going to help and
guide us until the end. I invite you all this week to either start a
gratitude journal or just begin to recognize and thank Heavenly Father
for the things he has given you! I know that you will be able to feel
more happiness in your life because I have seen it in my own!!
Thanks for all the love and support Fan Club! I am doing great here
in North Bend serving the Lord! I am so grateful for this opportunity
and for the many miracles and blessings that we see! I love you all and
hope that you have a great week!!
