MERRY CHRISTMAS! |
MERRY CHRISTMAS FAN CLUB! Not going to lie it is pretty weird to have
Christmas on our Pday, but it is also pretty nice as well! We are
spending most of our day today with some awesome members who took us
under their wing. We Skyped from their house this morning, had
breakfast with them and we are going to have dinner with them tonight!
We will be going down to Roseburg to watch a movie with the rest of
the Missionaries in the area. I think they picked out LEGO Batman. No
going to lie that wasn’t my first or second choice. But when Elders
rule the zone the Sisters vote doesn’t get much say! But it will be
fun none the less!
This week was full of a lot of miracles! Some highs and some lows but
we are going to focus on the highs of course (:
We had Zone Conference this week in North Bend, and it was so great to
be back on the coast! Although, it was raining and windy the entire
time we were there, I don’t miss that part of the coast. We had a
great meeting, the first part was about online proselyting, feasting
upon the scriptures and finding. All good things, but my favorite was
the end when we were able to have a little Christmas Devotional with
the Ortons. We watched this video that I just loved. We watched it
once and the President had us watch it again and had us try to find a
deeper meaning to it. I will put a link to the video in this email.
But it was so powerful and an amazing devotional. We sang a lot of
Christmas Hymns and it really felt like Christmas. For Christmas the
Ortons got us Temple Recommend Holders with our Mission Theme on it!
Super cool! At the end President said something funny with the up
coming new year in mind and with setting goals, he said, “Make old
year resolutions, we always make and break New Years resolutions, but
there is no reason to break an old year resolution!” I thought it was
so funny! But it is true, look back on this old year and make an old
year resolution! Desire to become an new you this next year through
Christ!
We did a lot of service this week. Like... 10ish hours... which
doesn’t seem like a lot but normally we average like 2 or 3. But we
have been encouraged recently to find more and more service
opportunities especially during the Holiday Season. But it felt so
good to be helping these people! It made our day brighter and we felt
the true reason for the season especially when we were doing things
that we did not want to do. I love service!
We had a lot of lessons with our guy Ken this week. This man is
amazing. I think we saw him everyday except Wednesday, between
lessons, dinners with members and baptisms! We were going over the
Baptismal interview questions with him this week and it was funny, at
the end he was like, that’s it? He was setting such high expectations
for himself to hit before baptism that he thought he wasn’t going to
be ready until March. But as we went over the questions it started to
become real to him and he even said himself this week, “you know what,
I think I am ready!” That was my pay day right there! We drove down to
Roseburg on Saturday and Ken was able to have his Baptismal Interview
and he passed! Then he was able to witness a baptism for 2
investigators in the North Umpqua Ward! He enjoyed every minute of it.
He came to church yesterday and loved the Christmas Service. Next
Sunday is his day!! Pray for Ken!
Last night as missionaries we were able to get together and read Luke
chapter 2, the record of the Birth of the Savior. When missionaries
get together it is pretty crazy because we are usually so excited to
see each other. But as we started with a prayer and a song the spirit
was instantly brought in. As we read the chapter it made me think of
the Saviors birth, then we were able to watch the Nativity Bible video
that the church has put out. I invite you all to watch that video this
Christmas Season, they have done a magnificent job! I then bore my
testimony of the Savior and we sang two more hymns. It was so nice to
be around missionaries during Christmas Eve.
I saw this quote the other day and I wanted to share it with my weekly email:
MERRY CHRISTMAS! |
