Man
this week has just been fantastic, I am not going to lie the beginning
of the week was really rough, but you know that is just what comes with
Missionary Work! But the outcomes that came from last week were so worth
the rough couple of days. Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of
heaven FOR SURE!!
Ummm
so exciting news! Well first not so exciting news, with transfers they
took Sister Missionaries out of Brookings :( BUT because they did that
Sister Nowell is now serving in Grants Pass!! So I will see her at Zone
Conference tomorrow!
It is President Russell's last Zone Conference so it will be a half
mission meeting. I am excited to be able to see so many missionaries but
most importantly to be able to learn from the spirit. Zone Conference
is always so great, so get ready to see how it went next week! In
preparation for it we have had to study 5 miracles and 5 parables. It
has been so enriching to learn from the Saviors life. SO powerful. LOVE
it.
Yesterday
we were able to have our last interview with President Russell. It is
so weird to see how his mission is coming to an end. We have been asked
to pray for President and Sister Orton in all of our prayers to help
prep the mission for their coming. It has been really cool to see how
much I have already been able to grow my love for them. Man it will be
so awesome. During my interview President shared a lot of scriptures but
one of the scriptures that he shared is one that I want to share with
you. It is Moroni 7:13:
13
But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good
continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do
good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.
It
is important to realize that everything good that happens in our life
is coming from God. And I remember in the Missionary Broadcast this year
Elder Bednar talked about any good thought that comes into our mind is
from the Spirit. So recognize those good things that are coming into
your life and show God your gratitude for them!
Okay so within the last week Sister Roach and I have received 2 Mormon.org Referrals! It was funny since because we just barely talked about how we NEVER receive Mormon.org
referrals. Well, first referral, Dee. He was an interesting character,
lets just say I am SO grateful that we had the member that we had. He is
a nice bible bashed, but by the end of the meeting he was getting a
little bit more aggressive. He wanted us to teach the lesson his way. He
had 3 questions, 1. Who is God, 2. Who is Jesus, 3. What is the gospel.
It is hard when people want things done their way because then as
missionaries we cant do our job. He said in his referral that he was
interested in learning about the Book of Mormon.... he never even asked
about the Book of Mormon, I brought it up! Funny guy. Next time the
lesson will go our way hopefully. The second referral we received, her
name is Val. We had a lesson with her yesterday and man.... interesting
haha. We taught her the Restoration and by the end we invited her to be
baptized and she said yes, on date for September 16th,
and then she started to roll a joint... we haven't taught her the Word
of Wisdom yet. So that is coming pretty quick. It was really funny
because we came to the church right after the lesson and President and
Sister Russell were still there, so we told the Zone Leaders about who
we just put on date and everything and we said "yeah and she rolled a
joint" then Sister Russell said "yeah and she was willing to join"!
Hahaha we were laughing so hard. But we were grateful for our Mormon.org referrals.
Okay,
so let me just tell you about our man Vic for just a sec. We taught him
last week the commandments the Law of Chastity and the Word of Wisdom
and man. He agreed to start living them right then so he can be baptized
on July 1st!!!!
VIC IS GOING TO GET BAPTIZED!!!! We showed him the font last week and
it was such a spiritual experience. We asked him if there was anything
holding him back and he said no! He was at church this week and in Sunday
School I was confused on who was teaching the lesson because his
comments were amazing! Then yesterday something happened that I had
never experienced... We received a text saying this and only this "Let
the Holy Spirit Guide May 2017 Liahona" WHAT THE. We texted him back
saying that is an awesome talk, did you read it? And he said "yes, and I
just felt prompted to share it with you sisters have an awesome day!"
Since when do investigators send you talk suggestions! FREAKIN AWESOME!
We
taught a lesson to a Part Member family, the Spiveys, this week. It was
such an awesome lesson. We were teaching the Restoration and usually
their little girls are all over the place, but during the whole lesson
the spirit was there and they were able to learn. The non member husband
was quiet but he was very much so listening so that was really cool.
And their 9 year old daughter is just BRILLIANT!! We asked her what the
priesthood was and she said the permission to act in the name of God.
Wow. I don't think I knew that at 9! It was such a great lesson and we
decided to commit them to read the scriptures and pray as a family, we
will see what happens next week!
This
week, there is a member who we stop by her house all the time to use
the restroom. And apparently the toilet seat has been broken, I didn't
notice. Well we stopped by her house the other day and she freaked out
she was so excited and told me that she bought a new toilet seat just
for me. Lol. Gotta love Members.
We
taught a lesson to a Less Active Family this week and his grandchildren
are non members. It was interesting because when we asked them why they
were less active and he talked about how it is because the church gave
him too many responsibilities. I had never heard that excuse before! But
he is willing to be supportive of his grand kids learning and to be
able to just go slow through the lessons. So we just talked about how
God is our Heavenly Father and we invited them to pray. It was a good
lesson and we hope to meet with them more often.
We
had some interesting tracking experiences. But the only one that I am
thinking of is this lady named Carrie. She answered the door and the
first thing she said is "You aren't JWs right?" Uhhhh no. "OH THANK
GOODNESS" lol, so funny, she then tells us that her sister is mormon, so
we asked if she lived in the area! "Oh no, actually she is a meth
addict in Reno, oh and she is homeless" oh... she then told us we should
probably send members of the truth to find her. Uhhh.... Awkward
situations. We also had a funny experience this old lady asked,
sincerely, to Sister Roach, if there were really mormons in Virginia...
hahaha so funny. She couldn't believe it.
Well
Brothers and Sisters, I feel like there is so much more that I could
talk about but I just cant think about what more to say. The Book is
Blue and the Church is True Ladies and Gents. Put God first and you will
never be last. Remember who you are and who God expects you to be.
Doubt your doubts before you doubt your fears. Hold to the rod the Iron
Rod. I think that's all I got. HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEK!!!!
Love you and Miss you all!!!
Love, Your Favorite Sister Missionary,
