Hey
Fan Club! I can't wait to tell you all about the many many many
miracles that Sister Roach and I were able to see this week in Klamath
Falls! And for some of you who I just barely added to my weekly email, I
am so sorry. I am just very slow at this whole adding people, and if
you don't want to receive my weekly just let me know (:
Alright,
alright, I know you all want to hear about our fund Pday activity that
we had last week! We were able to go to the Lava Bed National Monument
down in Tulelake, California! We were able to drive down there with an
awesome member in our ward here in Klamath Falls 3rd ward, Sister
Burton! It was about an hour drive from Klamath Falls and then once we
got there we were able to just start going and exploring through caves.
We packed sack lunches and had a little picnic and while when we were
done eating Sister Broadhead, a sister in the zone who goes home in like
a week, was able to share her testimony with us. It was very powerful!
The story with the Lava Beds is basically thousands of years ago there
was a volcano that erupted and the lava left little areas where we can
now go through and climb and explore. We stayed together as a zone and
it actually ended up being so much fun. At some points you could just
walk through the caves and then at other points you can to crawl. But it
was so much fun, and we had our safety first, wearing our bicycle
helmets, because President Russell said so! And honestly, I hit my head
so many times I was grateful for a helmet. At the end we were also able
to go look at petroglyphs and tried to figure out what people from
hundreds of years ago were saying. We had a blast and I wouldn't even
mind going there again some day!
We had a good lesson this week with a man named Vic, he is currently on date for July 1st.
His biggest problem is that he doesn't have coming to church set as his
priority. Which is really sad to me because I love church! But we were
able to teach him the Restoration and talk about the importance of that
and basically he bore a strong witness that he knew that everything that
we were talking about was true. He has met with many missionaries
before us. So the spirit was really there and we challenged him to make
it a priority to come to church and he said that he is going to pray
about it this week and next week we are going to have a lesson at the
church which I think is going help a lot!
This
week for splits with members of our ward I was able to go with Sister
Thomas. We stopped by an older less actives house and we talked to them
for a good 30 minutes and shared with them a message about the Book of
Mormon. The cool thing about the whole experience was that we found out
the wife is not a member! We thought we they
were both members and once we got talking we found out that she wasn't,
but that she has her own copy of the Book of Mormon, and she has come
to church many times and everything! She kept saying "They haven't got
me yet!" Yet being the key word. So we shared the short message about
the Book of Mormon that President Monson shared with us at General
Conference. It promises us 5 things as we read the Book of Mormon each
day: 1. We will be in the position to hear the spirit 2. We will resist
temptation 3. To overcome doubt 4. And fear 5. Receive heavens help in
our lives.... I think these are pretty great promises! And the Less
Active/Part Member family loved it! Although, because they have so many
health issues they said we can only come once a month... but we will
keep working with them!
This
coming week all leadership in the mission has the opportunity to go to
the COAST for Leadership Training! It will be President Russell's last
leadership meeting, sad, but we get to the coast! We get to leave early
tomorrow morning, Sister Roach and I are really pumped!!!!
We
were able to find 11 new investigators this week, and we taught 31
lessons! It is funny how when you just throw yourself into the work that
it doesn't even feel like you are doing that much, but because you are
focusing on the Lord and his work so many miracles come! This is the
last week of the transfer and we made a challenge for the whole zone to
at least find 10 new investigators. So we are excited to see all the
success that we are able to continue finding in the Klamath Falls Zone!
HAHAHA K falls... get it?
Okay,
so I told you all about the amazing experience that we had with Camille
last week. She was the lady that we tracted into and all 3 of us ended
up crying on her doorstep, super cool spiritual experience. WELL we met
with her again this week AND she has been reading the Book of Mormon!
She has a lot of health issues that she is going through and she has
gotten to a point in her life where she feels like she needs to find a
spiritual out look where she can feel healed in a way. Her whole life
she has had so many questions about religions but no one has given her
the time of day to answer her questions! It was such a cute mini lesson.
She had to go to an appointment so we weren't able to get into a in
depth lesson. BUT she is excited to meet with us again this week and we
gave her some specific chapters to read. Oh and we invited her to be
baptized saying once she knew all of what we were telling her was true,
that she would!!! She is so golden!
We
had a couple of interesting tracting experiences this week.... 1. This
guy answered the door and was very kind, and we asked him if he had ever
read from the Book of Mormon, he said "no and I am not interested", so
we said, "Oh so what have you heard about it?" Then he said "That it is
full of false doctrine!" Then we just said, "Oh so have you read it?"
And he said no again, but told us that he didn't want to. I think its
funny when you just take other peoples word for it. Literally as
missionaries we invite people to read it and find for themselves, I
guess that just means they aren't prepared! 2. We talked to this man for
about 30 minutes about the Restoration on his door step, he was a cool
dude who showed us pictures of his hobby, restoring old guitars! But
then things got weird and he started telling us about how he got his
faith... that he died and came back to life and found out his brother
killed him... he said it was a long story, and we said we would love to
hear it and he just walked in side his house and didn't come back.... 3.
We knocked on this house and in the back yard you could see a lady
laying out in her swim suit, well she got up and we thought she was
going to come talk to us.... then a man answered the door and his dog
got out, we helped him get his dog then he went in and closed the
door... then suddenly we see the lady walk back outside in the back
yard... we try to talk to her... nothing... we wait for the guy to come
back.. nothing. So... we waited a couple of minutes then left. 4. We met
this guy and he started talking about how his faith has really helped
him get through his divorce during the last couple of months, we started
explaining what we as missionaries do and left him a Restoration
Pamphlet and scheduled a time for next week! Then, suddenly, he asked if
we had a leader in our church with the last name of Snow... And I
responded Lorenzo Snow? Then he said, ya thats him! And he started
quoting Lorenzo Snow and asking a ton of questions... it should be an
interesting return appointment. Obviously he has done his research.
One
of my favorite door approaches that I have been using lately has been
to ask people what they believe their purpose in life is. It is
interesting to see what peoples response is and to see where they are
spiritually. Most people give answers like, to work and make money or to
raise my kids. But there is so much more to the lives that we live and
there are so many people who don't even know! I love being a missionary
to help show them what their REAL purpose in life is.
We
had a really cool dinner last night. It was with a Part Member family,
the mom is a returning less active and the dad is a non member and they
have 3 little girls. Well the dad has been coming to church every single
week since I have been in Klamath Falls. That is 4 and a half months
people!!! One time at dinner his wife told us about how he has been
reading the Book of Mormon and more recently he chose to take of a
Sunday a month for the summer to come to church! (He fights fires so he
only gets one day a month off, and he chose Sundays #GOLDEN) And every
time we try to invite him to take the missionary discussions at dinners
their 2 year old is usually all over the place so it is just not the
right place or time. BUT last night we shared a video about the
restoration for our dinner message and invited the whole family to
receive the lessons and they all said YES!!! We are so excited, although
their summer is going to be super busy with him gone a lot, we are
going to make it work!!
I am sure there are like a million and one more little miracles that happened this week... But I can't think of them!
A scripture that I wanted to share with everyone today is one found in Doctrine and Covenants Section 58 verses 2-4, it says,
2
For verily I say unto you, blessed is he that keepeth my commandments,
whether in life or in death; and he that is faithful in tribulation, the
reward of the same is greater in the kingdom of heaven.
3
Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the
design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter,
and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation.
4
For after much tribulation come the blessings. Wherefore the day cometh
that ye shall be crowned with much glory; the hour is not yet, but is
nigh at hand.
I
love these verses, in life as we are all going through tribulation we
must remember that our Heavenly Father has it all worked out, God has
the things designed for the hereafter and as his children all we need to
do is hold on. We may not see the blessings from the trials that we go
through right away. But we are PROMISED that after MUCH tribulation
comes the blessings. So what are we do to now? Look back at verse 2, we
are to keep the commandments and be FAITHFUL during our tribulation. We
were sent here to this Earth to be tested to see where we stand in the
end. I know it is hard to stay obedient, and no one is perfect. But I
can promise you that as we strive to be obedient to the commandments
Heavenly Father has given us, we WILL bless us, in this life and in the
life to come.
Alright

you all have a fabulous week, WORK HARD!
