What
a week Fan Club! This week was our walking week and you know, it wasn't
as bad as I thought it was going to be. I gained a lot of appreciation
this week for 1. Elders who don't have cars 2. The Pioneers and 3.
Homeless people who walk around all the time. No joke. But you know,
after 30 miles of walking in the sun we were able to gain pretty great
tan lines and more muscles. By the end of the week we figured that we
were ready to join the Boy Scouts on their 50 miler, do you think they
will accept us? Lol
Oh my goodness, we had such an amazing experience on Friday!!!
We tracted into this lady named Camille and at first she seemed a
little timid. We asked her if she had a faith in Jesus Christ and she
said yes, we asked her how that has helped her in her life and she
responded by saying I hope that it helps me through today. She seemed
pretty emotional. We explained to her the Book of Mormon and ask her if
she knew anyone that was LDS and she told us that her best friend
recently converted. We explained that the Book of Mormon has a promise
that if we read it and if we pray about it that we will know that it is
true. We asked her if she thought we could receive answers to prayers
today, and she responded I sure hope so. We invited her to read it and
she agreed. We then asked if we could say a prayer with her, which isn't
normally something that we do, but we felt prompted, and she said yes
please, then we asked if there was anything specific she wanted us to
pray for and she said her health. She suddenly started to cry and kept
apologizing. The spirit was so strong. We then prayed for her and she
cried during the whole prayer, and by the end all of us were crying.
Seriously, love the spirit. We told her we would come back in a week and
she said of course! Then, we texted her that night to try and see how
she was doing, and she didn't respond. And we were SO sad. And then on SUNDAY she texted us back saying that she is so excited and grateful to read the Book of Mormon!!! Woohoo! We meet with her on Friday.
This
week we were able to meet with the Morelos Family, this is a family
that the 4th ward elders have been teaching for awhile now. BUT they are
moving into our ward on JUNE 1st!!! YAY! The father can't be baptized for awhile because he is working on somethings, but we were able to meet with the Mom on Friday!
We sat down and taught her about the Restoration of the Gospel and she
ate up every bit of it. As we continued to talk we were able to explain
the Book of Mormon and invite her to read it. She said yes and then we
invited her to be baptized AUGUST 5th!!!
And she said yes! Also, they have a 9 year old daughter who is turning
10 and she wants to be baptized too! She was supposed to be baptized
this week but with some scheduling things we are going to have to move
it back a bit. But we are so excited to teach this family. We feel like
our ward here in Klamath Falls has been shrinking for the last couple of
months, a lot of people moving out and such. So it will be so great to
have a family with 5 young children investigating the church! Woot woot!
This
week while we were on foot we were able to find so many new
investigators! We found 11!!! It was so epic, the work is moving
forward, some weeks it is slow but all in all it is in the forward
direction! So excited to see what this week has in store!
So
funny thing, everyone in the Ward is starting to notice how long Sister
Roach and I have been together, but we still have two weeks! We tell
them 10 weeks and they are like, wow that is like eternity. Ummm no it
just means two transfers people!!
Oh
I almost forgot! We had been trying to meet with this guy named Vic for
weeks! His ex wife is a member in a ward here in Klamath Falls and we
have been trying but he works grave yard shifts so he is asleep when we
usually come by. But this week he said okay, come by at 10 am,
I promise I will be awake. So we walked 4 miles! Just to get to his
house. Once we got there he started to bear his testimony about how he
knows the church is true, that he knows the Book of Mormon is true,
modern day prophets, everything! It was so powerful! When we asked him
why he hasn't been baptized he said that he is just really busy and has a
hard time getting to church. We asked him if he would be willing to
make the sacrifice so that he could be baptized and he said yes! We put
him on date to be baptized on July 1st WOOT WOOT!
We
also had Zone Conference yesterday in Medford, the reason why our Pday
was today... But I can not even tell you how much I am going to miss
President and Sister Russell. We learned so much yesterday and truly
felt spiritually fed. We learned about how to teach the commandments,
how to work better with members, and just heard some really powerful
testimonies of our Savior. I know my Savior lives and loves everyone of
us. And when I hear other people testifying of him, it strengthens my
own. So anyone who might be reading this email I would love to invite
you to send your testimony of the Savior to me next week (: but all in
all it was just wonderful. Even Sister Roach and I had the opportunity
to teach. We taught on the importance of daily and weekly Planning, and
President Russell came up to us after and said we did a wonderful job, I
give all credit to the spirit!
As
I was studying my Conference Ensign from October this week, I was
reading one of the messages that are wonderful Prophet, Thomas S Monson,
was able to give. The talk was entitled "The Perfect Path to
Happiness". In the talk one of my favorite quotes was:
"We
are blessed to have the truth. We have a mandate to share the truth.
Let us live the truth, that we might merit all that the Father has for
us."
It reminded me of the scripture found in Doctrine and Covenants 16:6, which reads:
6
And now, behold, I say unto you, that the thing which will be of the
most worth unto you will be to declare repentance unto this people, that
you may bring souls unto me, that you may rest with them in the kingdom
of my Father. Amen.
We
don't have to declare repentance by getting up on a soap box in the
middle of the town share and preach. We can do exactly what President
Monson asks of us, and that is to share the truth by the way we live.
And I know that part of the merit that our Heavenly Father is willing to
give us is happiness on this worth more then we could comprehend. I am
grateful to HAVE the truth, I am grateful for the mandate to SHARE the
truth. Now let us all LIVE the truth!
Sorry
this email is a little bit everywhere, we are heading down to
California today to see the Lava Beds National Monument, lots of
pictures to come next week! But thank you for your continued support and
love Fan Club! I hope you all have a fabulous week, and don't forget
about me next week (:
