LESSSSS GOOOOOO!!!

9/18/2017

Hello Fan Club! It's been another beautiful week here on the Oregon Coast and the rain has started, I repeat the rain has started. So who knows the next time that we are going to see the sun, gotta love Oregon! This has been SUCH a good week. I feel like so many things happened and I don't know if I can get all the details but we will for sure try. We are doing a big Zone Pday activity today so hopefully we can get this out so everyone can know about my adventures! Here we go!

This week was a Finding Week for our district here in Coos Bay! For the last 2 weeks we have led the mission with our finding numbers, so our district leader said if we could do it again that he would buy us doughnuts, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! As a District this week we found 31 new investigators- this is not a drill people! Coos Bay is on fire! Not literally because we have rain now, but seriously, people are so prepared here!

So a terrifying experience with one of the people we found this week. Sister Huang and I were tracting an apartment complex, we talked to this man.... I cant remember his name because he wasn't interested.... but anyway we were walking around the corner to knock another door and hear the door to the apartment that we just knocked open and heard someone walking our way, suddenly a man is yelling at us, while we have our backs turned to him saying, "Hey stop it right there!" He sounded like a cop from a movie or something, not kidding I was freaking out on the inside. I turned around and there is a guy standing there with a coffee cup in one hand and the other hand pointing at us and he asked, "Are you Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses?" I didn't know what he wanted to hear haha so I shyly said Mormons... suddenly he gets super friendly and is laughing "hahaha I gotcha didn't I?" Uh yeah... you did ha... ha. Apparently his name is Arnold, and he has met with missionaries before! Arnold builds bikes and so he would always fix up the Elders bikes and they would talk. They showed him a lot of Mormon Messages and asked us where he could watch more of them. He became a new investigator as we talked and really has some great potential! It was funny because he brought up how he doesn't understand why more churches don't help in the community, (although I feel like most churches do a lot of community service and such) we were able to talk about how the church has been helping so much with natural disasters and how we just last week went to Coquille and helped with a service day. He was amazed! We are meeting with him again next week and we are super excited about it!

We had a really busy week this week between meetings, driving, lessons, finding and service. One day this week before 10 am we had exercised, ate breakfast, got ready, studied and did an hour service. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do! And if that means you don't have time to do certain things, that's okay. It's all for the Lord and His work!

We had a really cool opportunity to have 2 meetings this last week with 2 General Authority Seventies, Elder Whiting (and Sister Whiting) and Elder Parrella! Our first meeting was our Missionary Leadership Council. We got to counsel with these men about things that our mission could do better. It was a cool experience. We first talked about the good things, then the weaknesses, but Elder Whiting instead of calling them weaknesses called them opportunities to improve and grow. And then we were able to discuss different doctrines that we could learn that would help our weaknesses. It was a pretty cool experience to be in that kind of environment and to be able to learn from them. Then the other meeting that we went to was a Zone Conference, but not just any Zone Conference, a half mission conference. So we have 5 zones of missionaries in one building, SUPER COOL! We all met down in Medford and had a great meeting, there is so much I could write about that I learned, but it is just too much to put into one email! We had a question and answer section with them where we could ask any questions that we had, that was pretty cool. But I also think that it was amazing to feel the love that they had for us. And to know that love wasn't just from them, but it was for the Prophet and his counselors as well, and ultimately, Heavenly Father. They talked about ways we could improve as a mission and gave us tips and guidelines, there is so much to learn and so much to do! You think that you might finally be getting it write, then you go to these meetings and realize you still have a lot to learn, so goes life! Haha! But it was an amazing experience to get to know and learn from these men, and they are so funny! At one point an Elder was talking about how we as a mission are really good at adapting to different cultures and circumstances, but t was trying to say it in a nice way and Elder Whiting said, "Alright, just say it, OREGON IS WEIRD!" We all agreed haha. But you will all get the opportunity to learn from one of these men as well! Elder Parrella is speaking in the Sunday Afternoon session of General Conference! So watch out for him, then you won't have to take my word for it!

I told you all about Vanessa last email, well we hit some major speed bumps along the path toward baptism and we had to take her off date for the time being... but do not fear! We are still meeting with her and she still has that desire to enter into the waters. She notices the happiness that she has gained since meeting with us and I know that will continue happening as she learns more about the restored gospel. Speed bumps are pretty normal along the pathway of life so we know that she will make it through! So next week hopefully we will be able to meet more people how are ready to come closer to Christ through baptism!

This week Sister Huang and I were teaching a lot of commandments. I love to share the scripture Mosiah 2:41 when teaching any Commandments, it says:

"41 And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it."

There are a few parts that I love in this scripture, but my all time favorite is the never-ending happiness that we are going to feel when we return to Gods presence & if we have obeyed these commandments! Can you even imagine what never-ending happiness feels like? I can't, but I know that it is promised that if I do follow the commandments here on the Earth that someday I will find out! I invite everyone to recognize the happiness that they feel right now in your life because you are keeping the commandments of God, we aren't perfect, but I know you all feel even a toy bit of those blessings!

Thanks for tuning into another Weekly Email from Sister Harrison! I'm grateful for all of your love, support and prayers! I love you all and I hope you Work Hard and have a Fabulous Week!!
